Our analysis draws upon Nira Yuval-Davies's (2006) framework, which differentiates between belonging as an emotional connection and its political manifestation. Analysis demonstrated that young Muslim women employed strategies to sidestep negative stereotypes connecting Muslims and alcohol consumption by subtly changing their presentation of Muslim identity. Furthermore, we illustrated how the challenges of consuming alcohol while adhering to both Muslim and Danish principles resulted in several young women grappling with an 'identity crisis'. The culminating research into these women revealed that reconciling their Muslim and Danish identities was facilitated through their embrace of faith, precisely through actively shaping their Muslim identity.
